Multilingual site displaying both languages in main nav

Hi! I have multilingual site (manually build, no Weglot).  The problem is that both languages are displaying in main navigation....Site is new, Squarespace 7.1. I have tried this code from https://www.bradgood.net/articles/multi-language-content-on-any-squarespace-template   But it’s not working – like, NOTHING happens…(both languages are visible in navigation and the language switch is not visible either)...The code has absolute no effect...(?). It was mentioned on one topic that it might be due to Ajax, but my site is "new" 7.1 so there’s no Ajax…(?) Does that code work anymore with new sites..? Or is there some other way to do this....? I couldn`t find much about this subject anywhere...so Help! Anyone?

Brad's code works, so if you're having difficulties on your site, it's a working link to your site that we need.

There is an issue with type of quote marks used in this line:

If you replace these curly ones with straight ones, this should fix this error:

This typically happens when you are logged in. To see how your site is performing for visitors, try viewing the site from an incognito window when you aren't logged in.
