customize an image block to cover the whole of a section

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to customize an image block to cover the whole of a section without being limited to the grid?
I  want to use an image block to fulfil the same function as the background image of a section. 
Why? To have more control over the alignment of the image in the mobile viewport.

Yes! In the section settings toggle off fill screen, and the grid will extend top to bottom, and you can drag the image block to the left and right of the screen beyond the main grid.
