How do I edit or hide the date on my blog posts?

I can't seem to change or get rid of the "5/28/19" date which appears at the top of each blog entry. For context, I just launched this site and wanted to document some past events. I think I got stuck with the 5/28/19 date on everything because I overwrote the sample blog posts in the template, rather than creating new ones.

I would be fine to simply manually change the dates so that they correspond to the events in the blog post, but cannot figure out where that edit option is. I have also tried toggling off the "Show Date" option, and going into the "META" section and changing the 'Secondary Meta Data' from "Date" to None. Whenever I'm in edit mode and try to make that change, it doesn't stick and the date immediately reappears.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Have you checked the section settings on the main blog page rather than on the individual blog pages? Like this:

If that's still not working, I can give you some code to remove the date.

You can certainly edit the blog post publish date in the individual blog settings.

I am an editor on my church's website, just starting a new blog page and I have the same problem--wanting to change out the default dates on posts. Except when I go to edit the blog page section with all the posts, the only options I see are to change format and colors.  Is this maybe because I'm only an editor?

is there a way to edit the date on a post after it has been created?
