Working in local development environment, not template code

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to work and test the website locally? I know there is an option to clone the template and work on the template code, but that applies mostly for styles. What if I want to work with the content, or in our case - make our own API?

I find it very hard to write and test code in the small window of Header/Custom CSS in the Squarespace interface and I am wondering if there is something I am missing or not aware of.

Not as far as I'm aware, Squarespace websites really only run on their servers. You could build your stand alone code off platform and then install it, and probably tweak to work on Squarespace.

Being nosey... what are you coding? Sounds intriguing!

Thanks for your reply!

We are building a page for a new traffic project in Norway and want to implement a module where traffic information and project updates will be uploaded automatically.

The website was built by another company using the developer mode, which was a completely new concept for us, so it is a bit challenging (but interesting!) 🙂
