Should be so simple but it isn't doing it - background-colour on a div

Hello,

I want to achieve the below -  a white background in behind the featured items.  Should be simple, right?

image.thumb.jpeg.1bb8f95c89c08557235bcf9b1276671a.jpeg

I have been playing in the inspector, and using the below, I get the result I want:

div#yui_3_17_2_1_1669613693057_75 {
    background-color: white;
}

But when I put the change in the 'inject customs css' window, the change isn't applied.

Could someone help me please?

Best regards.
