Custom Font – different weights

A general question about custom fonts. I want to use one font family for the whole site: Poppins. In Germany, I am forced to install the font locally. I want to use 2 font weights of Poppins, light and semibold. do I have to install one font file, e.g. regular and then work with different weights (300, 700), or do I have to upload a separate file each for light and for semibold?
