ddchb_ss Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 (edited) Hi! Please see subject. If so, could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much! EDIT: Te be clear, I want to create a custom coded blog article template to edit some of the features found on the default blog template, e.g.: The post metadata (add custom metadata) Styling (e.g. maybe add a sidebar) Etc. I've checked here in the documentation, but I don't see blog post listed as a type of template, however it could just be an omission (hoping so). Thanks, I hope that helps! Ziggy Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Hi @ddchb_ss, you can duplicate any blog post you have, so what people often do is set up a "template" blog post, leave that as draft and then duplicate it each time you start a new post. You can add anything to the "template" blog that will help speed up your process. Is there something specific that you're trying to achieve beyond what I've mentioned here? ddchb_ss Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 (edited) Hi! Apologies if I wasn't clear enough. I'm looking to create a new template file for blog single posts using the templating language offered by Squarespace. While I'm not sure all of the customizations we might want to make to the normal blog post template, one item in particular is to alter the metadata shown on the post (e.g., the category link). Ziggy Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 I'm afraid I'm still not sure what I can do to help you? Are you wanting to use CSS to add styling to your blogs? if so you'll either have to be quite specific about what you want, or to read through this forum or the many blogs that offer a variety of different customizations via CSS or browse through plugin stores to see the possibilities that there are. ddchb_ss Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Hi @Ziggy, thanks for sticking with me. I've edited my question to add further details.
Ziggy Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Getting into developer mode to utilize that documentation is typically beyond the scope of the forum. I certainly wouldn't recommend it unless you are an experienced developer. If you want a sidebar, there are plugins like this that can be applied to every blog:https://www.sqspthemes.com/plugins/sidebar-plugin Other styling can be applied via CSS to all blogs. Metadata can be added via header code injection. Omari 1 Please like and upvote if my comments were helpful to you. Cheers!
