Novo Template - Adjust portfolio grid layout

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm using the Novo template and I would really like to change the portfolio/project grid spacing to a non-even grid.

I know I could do this by recreating the page using images but I really want to keep the functionality of the portfolio pages as they currently are.

If anyone knows how I can modify the spacing to match this example, I would be forever grateful!

Cheers

This thread is asking the same question, but not with a solution:

Same here:

I'm not sure this is going to be feasible to do with the way that portfolio pages are set up, really sorry not to be of more help!

Hi @Ziggy

Thanks for the info, just to clarify, Masonry is not what I'm trying to achieve, as that appears to be un-even rows and columns. I would like to maintain even rows, but have un-even columns/thumbnails.

That's a real shame if it's not possible, a lot of clients request this layout. I would have thought it would be quite a simple override?

Thanks again

It does seem like quite a few people are asking for this.

Would it be possible to implement grid spacing for us or provide a workaround/css?

Thank you!

Masonry grids can be set up in two ways, even row and even columns, it's just a different style.

I don't know of a way to set this up on a portfolio page.

But there must be something that determines their 50:50 width? Can this not be overidden with code injection to something like 70:30?

CSS Grid doesn't quite work like that, to achieve that you would want to span some containers across multiple columns not stretching the columns.

Novo is just a Squarespace "template". They're not templates as much as they are designs, the functionality of all Squarespace templates are identical.

You could contact Squarespace support and pass on a feature request, but I can't promise that will get you a result, or quickly.

Ah my apologies I thought you were a Squarespace employee 😄

I'll reach out to them, but I'm pretty sure they'll just tell me to do it manually with a image blocks.

No, just here to be helpful!

Make your request for a masonry gallery on the portfolio main page a feature request, it's not a bad suggestion.

I got in touch with them, they said it was not possible but they would forward the idea.

So if anyone can figure out how to achieve this with code injection.. 🙏
