Email on thank you page

Recommended Posts

Site URL: https://www.voyagersiding.com/

Hello,

I am trying to add an enhanced conversion tracker for google ads. When working with the google team they explained in order to have it work properly, the thank you page (after a potential customer fills out our contact form) must have the potential customer's email listed on the page. Does anyone know of any code that could display the email used in the contact form to display on the thank you page it redirects them too?

Thank you!

Given how Squarespace forms work, there's not going to be a way to show the submitted email address on a standard thank you page. Sorry about that!

With that being said, they also suggested I could use the following code on my thank you page that would accomplish the same thing:

<script>
  dataLayer.push({
    'event':'form_submit',
    'enhanced_conversion_data': {
      "email": 'yourEmailVariable' // get User email dynamically //
    }
  })
</script>

The only thing is I need to change the item in line 5 'yourEmailVariable'. Do you know what this would be or where to find this variable for a sqaurespace site?

The problem is that the page load, post form submit, doesn't have any link to the form and that script wouldn't have anywhere to pull from when the thank you page loads.

So could I add a link of some kind to the form so it has somewhere to pull from?

I have been reading the google article about it, and here is what it mentions:

***Change yourEmailVariable to the actual Javascript variable name where you are storing the user’s email data. Do the same for the other variables below. Make sure the values aren't hashed.

Could I do this if I am storing the data within a spreadsheet or a google sheet?

It's possible, I did think about that, but you would have to reference the correct cell, and I have no idea how you would achieve that.
