JacobPierce Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I'd like to forward the GoDaddy domain to a newly designed squarespace site for a client of mine without transferring it to squarespace. I called the customer service rep at GoDaddy and they informed me that if I change the nameservers that it will cause their email to go down and I would prefer to avoid that if possible. Is there a way to access the DNS information so that I can manually change the settings on the GoDaddy account? Or is there another way to do this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I've assumed you want to connect the GoDaddy domain to a Squarespace website. Forwarding is something entirely different. Also, the statement about email going down is unlikely. That said, if you'd prefer not to use Squarespace's new Nameserver Connect service you can opt out and manually add DNS records to GoDaddy. This option, known to Squarespace as DNS Connect, will appear during the process of connecting your domain. This guide explains the records that you'll need to create in GoDaddy: DNS records for connecting third-party domains. sayreambrosio 1 Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. JacobPierce Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 Hi Paul, Do you think that it would be alright to connect the site and their email will stay online? I think the rep could have been speculating rather than being 100% certain, but I just wanted to be safe. Thank you for your response ,I appreciate your time.
paul2009 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 When nameservers are changed, the DNS records should remain the same but, as you say, if you want to be 100% certain you can use DNS Connect instead. mrdcmiller Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I'm trying to do the same, but I keep getting directed to use DNS Connect which say may take up to 72 hours. I can't wait three days, where can i find the DNS setting that I can input to Godaddy? Thanks

mrdcmiller Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 thanks for the links, there's a lot of information in therw! I made the 'mistake' of changing the Nameservers in godaddy, without adding the CNAMEs. I'm not sure if the CNAMEs would have transferred across? But where can I edit the CNAMES in Squarespce?

You only need to add the records manually if you use GoDaddy nameservers. If you've changed the nameservers, Squarespace takes care of the settings for you. mrdcmiller Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 The Squarespace nameservers didn't seem to be active, so I went back to using GoDaddy's nameserver. according to https://begonia-elk-rswh.squarespace.com/config/settings/domains/linked/grwclb.org/dns-settings The settings all seem to be good but the CNAME WWW seems to rotate between record found and grwclb.org I'm hoping this will resolve in a few minutes
