Background image disappearing on my laptop but not on others.

Hi everyone,

On my homepage, I have a background image that I use by selecting it in the background image part of the page section. I have had this for years with no problems. I recently realised that on most of my devices, mobile and desktop, I can see the background image however when I use another laptop, the background image does not show and the page defaults to just block colour. For months this other laptop would show the image and was acting fine but now it doesn't display it.

The first screenshot is what I normally have.

The second screenshot is what is happening on my other laptop.

Does anyone know why this might be happening and if there is a fix?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Is the laptop old? See my existing post here:

The computer isn't old at all.

I must have misunderstood when you said you'd "had this for years" 🙂.

As the website is functioning correctly on other devices, this is unlikely to be an issue with the Squarespace platform, so you'll want to troubleshoot your laptop. This isn't something that any of us can do for you but, as first steps, I recommend checking that the laptop's operating system has been recently updated and the browser is the latest version available.

Apologies, I can see how that wording is confusing. I have had the computer that it is working on for years but the new laptop that I recently got a few months ago has started to show the issue.

That's good to hear about it being unlikely that it's a Squarespace issue. I will try updating the computer/browsers and see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks
