New(er) Website- Feedback appreciated

My client is a self-published author and real estate investor who wanted an author website.  I am looking for feedback from a user-experience standpoint on the navigation. Any feedback is appreciated. TIA! 

Nice site, straight forward, easy to navigate, not such a long scroll that going back to the top takes too long. Looks professional.  I like the white background, I still use one. 

Overall the site is good and easy to use/ navigate. Couple of personal preferences is the first impression is a bit tacky compared to the wider site impression. The faded blue background doesn't seem to work in my opinion- perhaps a darker blue? Didn't like the events or inspiration header picture either- just doesn't scream quality.
