Recently lost my google search position, now receiving emails about an error on my website as the cause.

Recommended Posts

Site URL: https://www.macpierce.com

Hello,

I’ve had a squarespace website for a long while, and throughout I’ve consistently had the top ranking when searching my name, which is my URL and is across the website.

For some reason, in March my website started no longer shows up on google, and only began to appear in results when i used: site:macpierce.com . It appears at top of Bing and DuckDuckGo results, and google search console lists it as appearing just fine. I’ve indexed the site map multiple times, and made sure that my robot.txt doesn’t have anything on it that would remove it from results. I’ve gone through it with squarespace support a total of 4 times now, but they’ve consistently said that it’s an issue on google’s side.

I accepted this answer until I started getting submissions through my website’s submissions form, which state that “There are errors in the way your website is coded that are causing your website to not be indexed by google. Please engage our services to help.” I don’t know what to do any longer. My website is the main way that people discover my work, and it’s endlessly frustrating that the main way they usually do so is not working.

did you setup Google console in you website,if yes then there will be error showing up and mostly likely it will be in sitemap section.

Unfortunately, there is no error code in the sitemap section of the google search console.

This looks like it describes my situation exactly. Emailed.

So, I'm not sure how to fix this. Squarespace isn't responsive to this issue, it seems like an ongoing issue that multiple people have had, and I'm not about to pay almost x5 my websites annual renewal cost to an SEO expert that may or may not fix it.

As does the issue outlined here -

I've even been getting random submissions to my contact me page that state the following:

So there's something happening in-between Squarespace and Google that is causing the issue.

Hello. Beyond basic SEO settings, I’m not a fan of checklists because there are nuances to different situations. That said, the post referenced above includes a link to a Google checklist to help DIY users: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7474347

And those “Oliver Johnson” type emails are spam sent to everyone and should be ignored.
