Question about custom domain name email addresses.

I want to make sure I understand the details regarding domain name emails from SquareSpace. I've started a small business with 3 other partners and we'd like to have custom domain name emails for the business like fredsmith@ourcompany.com. 

1. The only option for creating these through SquareSpace is to have a Google Workspace account? Is that true?

2. And then we have to pay for a Google Workspace account for at least $6/month/user, or $24/month for our 4 addresses. ($288/year) Is that true?

3. Just wondering if there are any cheaper workarounds like hosting the domain name at GoDaddy, could they then provide the domain name emails?

Squarespace try to simplify it for you. They have a partnership with Google and so offer the Google Workspace service that includes email as well as other services. The pricing you quoted is currently correct.

Alternatively, you can choose to purchase any email service from any supplier. If your third party service supports custom domains, you can connect the service to your domain name by manually updating the records to match. For example, Microsoft 365 services.
