Modified 'Blog' or 'Page' to meet needs

The aim of my website is to release regular articles. These will be in two parts, essentially a 'for' and 'against' and I want these to line up side by side, likely with an intro + picture as part of the design of each page. Ideally at these two boxes of text would scroll independently of one another as well.

I don't feel I can use a 'Page' for each article as once a lot of these articles are released it will start to become quite messy in the navigation bar. Pages do have the benefit that they offer a lot more freedom in terms of their design though.
The blog page seems to combat a couple of these issues by minimising the number of pages and offering comments sections but unfortunately it doesn't seem to allow for the freedom of design in the pages. Having the two pieces of text side by side is key to how I want to present my website and brand.

Squarespace support recommended this would be best resolved with other coding and ask here for advice. I know nothing about code but have started looking into learning in order to get the most out of my website but obviously it will be a long road before I can resolve this myself.

tl;dr - How do I change the format of the blog pages to allow two text blocks side by side? or How do I add things like comments sections to a Page and neaten up the links created in my website header when adding a new page?

Your site is private at the moment.

Do you any example or screenshot of the result you want to achieve?
