Make SHOP Categories Navigation into a Drop Down Menu

This applies to STORE CATEGORIES. I am trying to make the categories navigation menu into a drop down menu upon hover. Does anyone know the code for that and where to place it?

I am trying to make 4 categories in my shop navigation that would each drop down to subcategories upon hover.

You mean Sidebar will show some main categories items

Hover on each category item >> Appear sub categories?

Hi, 

Yes upon hovering over shop categories, the subcategories will appear. I have it as a side bar now, but I ultimately would like it at the top of the shop.
