Home page - switch to images only?

Hiya! I'm currently on the Avenue template and my home page is a bunch of indexed pages. I'd like to have a homepage that just displays images like this. I've tried adding gallery pages but I can't figure out how to make it automatically display different aspect ratios. I'd rather my images just open in a light box with navigation arrows. 

I know there is probably a painfully easy solution to this that I'm missing so I appreciate any direction! Thanks so much! 

The way you want your images to layout is exactly the way Wexley template works. That is the template that the site you posted the link to is built on, the same as this one I built.

and you have the ablility to switch templates. 

However, as an Avenue user myself I think you have a very good site. The autocolums setting in the index tweaking site styles menu adds a nice looking effect using original aspect ratios for the thumbnails.
