Headline image with type and padding

Hi All

I am trying helplessly to adjust the padding or spacing below this headline photo in its own section. Section height setting is 96 and content width setting is L. They do not seem to affect the space below, only the photo crop. It seems easy with a straight photo box - or even gallery box with css, but these inline photo boxes with type over the image that shift crop depending on size or orientation are a real pig to nail down. I end up adjusting the type, not the space below the whole thing. All I want is to close up the large space below the photo . I have tightened it a bit taking padding out from top of the text below in its own section. Any help with this would be really appreciated, it has stumped me and I cannot find any reference to these headline inline boxes online.thanks
