How to create pop ups (not promotional)

Hi there, I was hoping to create an extra layer to my website, in my "meet the team" section, have a person's photo, click on it and a popup of information rather than a whole extra page. 

Is there any way to do this in SS? Any modules that supply this feature? Or is it possible with custom code?
