How to show only one variant / to be searched for

Recommended Posts

I am setting up an online shop for second hand clothes. Meaning most of the items are one-off's, without any variants. I still want customers to be able to search by size or color of the products, it is essential to the store idea.  How can I make this happen?

You can do this by adding a tag or category to each product for the size and colour 🙂

On Squarespace 7.1, product list pages have a built in category navigation that will display the categories and allow users to filter by them. Tags will be hidden but you can create a tag navigation link manually.

But how would I have the customer for example: Select a size and see all products in that particular size? Or select a category like Jackets and then a size within Jackets? Drop down menu preferable

There isn't a built-in feature do this on Squarespace yet. As I mentioned, there's a category filter (called category navigation) but it doesn't allow you to combine selectors to search for products that meet several criteria.

If you're using the older version of Squarespace (version 7.0) then you can filter the store results to only show a size within jackets (for example /store?category=Jackets&tag=Small) but you will need to write code (or hire a developer) to extend this to allow other combinations. Also, it doesn't work on 7.1.

There's a great third party addon called Universal Filter that takes care of all this on both Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 but it's obviously an additional expense. For more details, see the older post:
