Taking optional payments/donations directly of activity registration form

Hi! We are a nonprofit that serves youth with in-person and virtual services. Today, they can register for individual activities through our website with individual forms on each activity. (Here's an example.

We want to give folks the option to donate/pay for their activity within each individual form. Do any of you have recommendations of how best to set that up? Would an e-commerce set up be more beneficial?

  • We want to provide a seamless experience and would like to capture payment info within the activity registration
  • We need the payment to be optional
  • I'm hoping we don't need to require registrants/payers to become "members" to be able to register for activities

We currently accept donations, but send folks off-site to another platform/processor. (We're looking into bringing that process onsite eventually, and as a part of this project if it makes sense.

Thank you for any guidance and examples you might have!

Squarespace may not be the best platform for this; it will depend on your detailed requirements.

From a Squarespace perspective, you will not be able to take payments within Squarespace Forms. To take payments, you'll need to set up the 'Commerce' elements. You can then add a "store" page where you can create "service products" for each of the activities. Prices must have fixed amounts (they cannot be variable) so you may want to add a number of "variants" for each activity with different price points, from zero upwards.

Hi Paul, I have a similar issue for a not for profit. We have a community exhibition which I need people to register their artwork and pay the entry fee.

I have created a product for the registration and custom product form with all the fields we need, however the information from the form is only visible to us via the confirmation email - it isn't reflected in the CSV files or seem to be able to be collected anywhere else. Is there some way I can direct this information to a spreadsheet so we don't have to copy and paste it into a spreadsheet one line at a time?

I can't create a custom checkout form because we have lots of other products available for purchase.

Thanks for your insight!

*edited to add I have solved my own issue - you can download specific product SCV files which includes this form information. I'll leave this here in case someone else is searching for this answer someday.
