reduce padding on top of gallery simple slideshow

I can't seem to figure out how to reduce the padding on the top of the images in the simple slideshow setting in my galleries? I'm in 7.1 but don't get the blue box when I hover to make an adjustment. I've got the height and width at 100 because I want the photos to be as big as possible.

Also, my thumbnails don't show up in mobile and I'm wondering if there's too much white space on the bottom too?  Need some basic spacing help. thx!
