Adding a non Youtube hosted Video to Home Page

Hi

We currently have a 7.0 site so I'm testing a 7.1 as we want to be able to add a video to the home page but directly from the website not hosted on Youtube or other.

Now that we are testing the 7.1 site I see we can only add videos to a video page. Then I searched the forum and found someone uploaded to the video page then found the url and added this but I can not get that to work.

Is it possible to add a video to the home page not via Youtube?

Thanks
Bel

For the time, if you upload a video to Squarespace it cannot be shown in a Video Block. However, on Squarespace 7.1 you can add the video as a section "background video", for example as a banner video on a home page. Of course it must be 60 seconds or less and will not play with sound.

My Video has sound and is 4.5mins long.

Does that mean it's not possible?

Correct. Squarespace haven't provided a way to to upload a 4.5min video directly to Squarespace and place it on a standard page with other content. At least not yet! If you upload it to Vimeo or YouTube you can add it to a page using a Video Block or an Embed Block.

Thanks for confirming. We currently have it on Youtube but feel it would look better hosted on site. Hopefully SS will make this possible soon.

Thanks
