Guest
Site URL: https://www.furangelfoundation.org/adopt I'm trying to simplify the maintenance effort of our site, but still improve how the products are displayed. On our Product Overview page, I'd like to try and display the first line of our product description since our product description always states the availability status of our dogs. Right now, we tweaked the CSS to only display the dog's name and no price. We have an alternative method where we would can add a tag to the product that would display the dog's status, but there's a good chance that things will fall out of sync if someone fails to update the tag and only updates the description. In researching this forum, it seems that displaying the description field may be possible by using Summary or Product Blocks? I'm not familiar with these and just wonder if it would add even more maintenance effort just to get the descriptions to display on the product overview page? This is an example of what I would hope to achieve. The dog's name automatically appears and the Adoption Status would come from the Product Description field. Link to comment

I see what you're saying about editing two different areas when the adoption status changes - the product description and the product tag. My suggestion is therefore to remove the adoption status from the product description and use/update the tag instead. I say this because the product description cannot be accessed on the Product List Page (PLP) - as shown in your screenshot above. This makes it difficult to show them as you requested. The beauty of tags is they can be accessed on both the PLP and the Product Detail Page (PDP). This means that if you tag one of the dogs as "Available" this status could be shown on both pages fairly easily - assuming the site is on a Business Plan or above. Tags should be quicker to update as you can simply select the correct tag instead of typing it manually each time. If required, visitors could also search by the status. Did this help?
