Is there a mechanism where you can make dependent variants. In other words, a list of options that are dependent on my customer choosing another option?

Yes. After adding your variant options to a couple of variant dropdowns (such as color and size), simply delete the invalid options in the variant editor.

For example, the beige version of this product is not available in small or medium. After removing these options, the invalid choices are not available.

Here is the Product Detail Page after editing the variants above. Initially there are Small, Medium and Large Size options available, but once the Beige variant is selected, the only size available is Large.

This is great however, it only seems to work with 2 drop down menus and does not work with 3. This is a real shame. I am trying to have 3 options for print orders:

  1. Size
  2. Type
  3. Frame

Some types do not need a frame (or I don't want to give that option) so I need to be able to hide the frame options depending on the selection in drop down number 2.

Seems like there is always a catch with Squarespace 😞

If anyone knows how to do this, I would love to hear!

Correct, this works with two dropdown lists of options. If Squarespace enabled this feature for more than two dropdowns it would be like a logic puzzle and users would quickly become frustrated.

This is something Squarespace will need to implement... not used variants should not show up if the combination doesnt match... I have the same issue and I spent hours trying to solve it until I landed in this topic.

If there is a plugin to go around this I would buy it.

My solution was to use Shopify for my ecommerce side which does 3 variants easily and simply.
