Unable to add different logo on home page

As my main logo is white I want an alternate logo on the home page as it has a white background. I've added a file containing an alternate logo to put on the home page (currently home-1 until ready to launch) and added css to the header of the page, but nothing happens:

I also tried adding the file to the upload file option in custom css and creating a link that way but still no luck.

/home-1 doesn't exit.
