Opening lightbox gallery from link

I want to open a lightbox with images from a link (or actually a button). I don't want the gallery to be visible on the page. The lightbox need to display previous/next controls, to scroll through the images.

Any ideas for how to do this? 

How I add the images is not that important; if they can be uploaded in a gallery that's great, and if I need to refer to each of them, that's ok as well.
