Help hiding Category tags on my event page.

Hello, 

I had a search function built for the site, but in order for it to pull up my online events in a state page I have to give every event a state category. Anyways now all these tags are showing up and it does not look great. I see you can turn this off for blogs but is there a way to hide these on an event? 

I found the other post about adding this code the design css and it did not work unless I am missing something?
