Product and Catalogue management without e-commerce?

Hello world! 
I'm looking to curate content on a website like 'products' but do not require any e-commerce. 

For example: take 40 types of exercise (the product) - touch toes, crunches etc. Put them into categories 'bums and tums' or 'after pregnancy', where some exercises can be listed in both. The data for the exercise: photos, list of muscles, reps you only have to enter once into a 'product' listing.

In addition, I'd like to insert the 'exercise' into page blocks - exercise of the week, that is easy to point to a different exercise each week, no copy/ paste.

I've looked at CSS code injections to disabling carts and checkout but those appear to be hardwired in. Are there any other SQ templates/page blocks that can achieve this effect.
