Is it possible to have Member Areas with end/expiration dates?

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I am setting up a number of member areas, and I would like them to have an end or expiration date, so that users pay a one off fee, but it is only accessiable for a certain length of time, e.g. 3 months.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

A new member immediately gains unrestricted access to your member area upon paying the first payment. If they are paying fee installments or a recurring fee they'll need to continue making payments on schedule to maintain access, but after they've made their final payment in an installment plan, they'll have membership indefinitely. You cannot set an expiration date. For more information see Membership fees.

Thanks Paul, we are looking for a setup where members pay a one-off fee upfront and then lose access completely after a certain period of time. Unfortunately we have to go with the one-off fee for indefinite access at this point which is not ideal.

+1 on this.  Our use case requires a one-time payment for 1-month access to the member area.  The recurring subscription does not apply to our content.  We'd like to see the option to set membership expiration with automation notification to the member on the roadmap, otherwise we will have to explore other options that enables us with this feature.

just wanted to know if there have been any changes on Squarespace that allow the members area to expire?

The situation is unchanged. The post above is still correct.

Just coming to ask a similar question, but I think in my case this might work out.

I've just launched a journal, and I'm offering both free and subscriber-only content. I've set an annual membership price, and made this a subscription to recur every year. I think this means that after a year, members will be kicked off unless they re-up their subscription - is that correct?

Additionally, I created a 'lifetime' option because I wanted to give an incentive for people to pay more upfront and have lifetime access. That's a fixed amount, rather than recurring. This means I don't have to worry about them ever being kicked off - is that also correct?
