Searchonic
Hi @byharriet I have gone through deep analysis why the meta title and description tags are displaying/showing different rather than real ones. It is due to a latest google algorithm update i.e. (rewriting the meta-title and description google update) that was noticed on Aug 16,2021. The rewriting the meta-title and description google update states that Google is rewriting meta title and description for a limited number of webpages in search results often replacing the text with a webpages "H1 Tags" In your website i.e. https://www.helenthecelebrant.com/ The by default meta title & Description of your website is Title: Helen The Celebrant Meta description: Independent Celebrant of Weddings, Funerals, Celebrations of life, Vow renewals, Naming & Welcoming celebrations. East Yorkshire & UK. Let's talk But when your write site:https://www.helenthecelebrant.com/ Then the meta title & Description of your website will display/shown as same as the by default Title: Helen The Celebrant Meta description: Independent Celebrant of Weddings, Funerals, Celebrations of life, Vow renewals, Naming & Welcoming celebrations. East Yorkshire & UK. Let's talk If you change the search intent or query than it may pick "H1 tags" as rewriting the meta-title and description google update has said. It simply depends on the search intent or search query with respect your targeting Keywords. There may some different reasons(other than rewriting the meta-title and description google update) that impacts on changing the meta title & description - When you've search at that time your website may not indexed properly. - Maybe your search intent query will be different. gper
Google will sometimes use the <meta name="description"> tag from a page to generate a snippet in search results, if it thinks it gives users a more accurate description than would be possible purely from the on-page content. https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/snippet#:~:text=A meta description tag generally,a particular page is about.&text=There's no limit on how,to fit the device width. edharris
There's no way to definitively control what text Google displays as the title and description in the search results. The amount of title and description re-writing Google is doing increased dramatically in the past year. You can read about these changes in more detail in this article: https://searchengineland.com/navigating-googles-title-changes-the-rollout-whats-happening-now-and-what-you-can-do-about-it-375445 Ultimately your best bet is to do you best to write a good SEO title and description for each page/post in the Squarespace SEO settings – something that you think will work for the most popular search query intent for that you're targeting with that URL – and hope Google uses it. But there's a good chance it won't 🤪 Hope that helps, - Ed -- Blue Hills DigitalSupport with website optimization, SEO and finding a digital marketing strategy that works.
