Hiding 'Create Account' from user account login iframe

I am looking to set up my Member Area to only allow my members to login as i'm no longer interested in enrolling more members.

I have tried to use custom css to hide the iframe footer (or at the very least the 'Create account' `a` tag), but I can't remove it

To no avail, this is what I tried to use in custom css:

#user-account-login-root > div > div > footer {
 display: none;
}

Any idea why this doesn't work? Anyone have a good workaround?

This is one of the limitations of Member Areas. You cannot prevent signups because the links are always live.

This is incredibly unfortunate since we have content for our members, but we do not want people to have the ability to sign up freely.

I'm definitely all ears for any kind of workaround possibility

Same here. Is there really no workaround here? I need to either 1) hide the "create account"-option, or 2) manually approve new members. 

The member area will have information about a strictly invite-only event.

Sadly this isn’t a secure solution that we can rely on to prevent anyone joining. We need Squarespace to act.

As Michael explains, this cannot prevent users from joining your Member Area because it isn’t preventing the account creation process from working - it is simply hiding the link from those who don’t know how to find it. Anyone could still join your Member Area, so you’ll want to ensure that you aren’t sharing anything private or valuable. 

Agreed - not secure and not ideal.

After this feature as well - sucks it doesn't exist.

This work around just saved my butt on a membership site, thank you for posting @sigmundelias!
