Splitting portfolios into two dropdown menus whilst all showing on homepage

Hey Forum, 

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to split my portfolios (film's i've made) into two categories. I'd love to have all my portfolios shown on the home page but with the option in the navigation to have a drop down menu so you can see the two categories and once clicked on would just show that particular category. 

ie. Homepage shows Music Videos and commercials. Menu shows films - dropdown to Music videos + Commercials 

If i could add two index's to a folder and set the folder as the homepage then would that work?

Any help would be massively appreciated. 

Index pages will not go into a folder. Neither can a folder be the homepage. You can put a link to an index page in a folder, more than one if you wish. Here is the guide for using folders:

So I have made a folder with two indexes which works great as a drop down menu to splitting my work into two categories. The problem i'm having is that I want the homepage to display the contents of both index's - I can't figure out the way to do that. Any ideas?
