Hide product gallery thumbnail on specific product

Hi, 

I've have been trying to hide product page thumbnail photos with out any luck.
I want to hide thumbnails on specific products and not side-wide. 

(the reason being i want to add photos for a multible combination product with 3 variations. When changing variations in dropdown, Squarespace automaticly changes the photo accordingly. But clicking the thumbnail photos does not change the inputs in the dropdown. So to rule out mistakes from the customer, I want to remove the thumbs, so online the dropdown chooses the photos)

A solution to change it side wide in Design > site styles is to change the photo thumbnail with to 0px. But this unfortunately removes thumbs on all my other products)

Here are example screen moch-ups. Would like the first four thumbnails to be showing and the rest of variant images gone. 

Once variant options are selected I would like the variant image to only show up in the larger image.
