alybla97 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I am creating a new site with a 7.1 version template and I can't figure out how to create my home page without a trailing slug. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
derricksrandomviews Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 You can't, however the slug does not show up when your custom domain is used to go to your site. My home page has a slug but it is never seen nor do I need to give it out. my random views
Squarespace_Design Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) I have a website that has two home pages, example.com and example.com/homepage causing this error message from Google. Do you know how to fix this issue? Thanks!! How can I set the home page to be example.com? What I would prefer is that both the logo and the home tab go to example.com. NOT the example.com/homepage Page indexing issues detected in example.com To the owner of example.com: Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Page indexing issue(s). The following issues were found on your site. Top Issues Alternate page with proper canonical tag We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search. Squarespace_Design Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Is the solution just to not include a HOME tab in the main menu? Even if I do that, Google still detects the duplicate homepages. Would the next step be to create a redirect for the example.com/homepage to the example.com?
Jacob_Marketing_Guy Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I've run into this same issue. Anyone figure out a fix for this? My site's been live for a couple months now and I'm not able to get more than 3 pages indexed. Letgop83 1

derricksrandomviews Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) The best thing to do to not "confuse" google is to give the page set as home, and there can only be one of those, the slug "home". A home page like all the others has to have a slug. If you don't assign one the configuration program will. Edited June 7 by derricksrandomviews

Look for an option to edit the URL or slug and remove any trailing text. Save your changes, and your home page should now display without a trailing slug in the URL. If you're having trouble finding this option, refer to the template's documentation or reach out to the template provider for assistance. 3.5 If you remove the trailing text Squarespace will automatically populate the URL slug field with the page title. You can change the home page URL slug to home or anything you want, but it will not remain blank when saved. Any page set as home will be exhibited in the browser bar without the /home.
