Sitemap - Google error: "Please enter a valid path to a sitemap in your site."

Hi,

I am trying to add the sitemap.xml in the Google Search Console.

After verifying the site in the DNS-Settings, it shows up under "Properties" in my Google Search Console.

However, when trying to add the sitemap.xml I get the following error:

Google error: "Please enter a valid path to a sitemap in your site."

What am I missing?

This is the sitemap URL to add in the Google Search Console settings: https://www.easy-eiv.de/sitemap.xml - that should work without an error, since the sitemap is populated and publicly visible.

Also looks like Google has already indexed three URLs on the site (see screenshot below).
