AndrewFreedMusic Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Site URL: https://www.bassfreedom.com Hi there! I run a subscription website for bass guitar lessons. Within my site, I have loads of lessons and courses. Does anyone know how I get my logged in members a way to keep track of the lessons they watch/complete? I've seen other sites that have a "mark lesson complete" button (example attached) which is what I'm looking for! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
KwameAndCo Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Unfortunately, this isn't possible with Squarespace. Perhaps you can submit a feature request to customer support and it may come through in a few months or so, but it currently isn't an option. Potentially, you could pay to get this functionality developed custom for your website but it wouldn't be cheap I'm afraid. AndrewFreedMusic Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Thanks I will submit a request ASAP. Just curious, what price would it cost to have this functionality developed if you had to guess? Thanks so much!

My members are begging for this feature, since they have over 200 classes to do. I am also submitting a request to customer support now! TIA for your answer!

I've seen other sites that have a "mark lesson complete" button Hi Andrew. It's possible to add progress indicators on a number of dedicated elearning platforms, but Squarespace doesn't have anything like this - and currently they have no published plans to add them so I don't expect anything to change in the short to medium term. Do you have any details of how your customers use your service? For example, do you know how many of them always use the same device to access the classes? I ask because it may be possible to build an addon that tracks their progress in the browser, but if they use different devices (for example, sometimes their tablet and sometimes their phone) this wouldn't meet their needs because they wouldn't be synchronised. I'll be interested in your thoughts. Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. I value honesty, transparency, diversity and good design ♥. Work: Founder of SF.DIGITAL. I wonder if it could work if I implemented this idea and used a disclaimer that progress is only tracked if you are on my site from a browser? Thoughts? Thanks!! paul2009 1

Not speaking for @paul2009 but that technique is widely used on sites that need to track progress but don't use an account login system. The key to the disclaimer is to say something like progress is tracked per device. So they can use a mobile device if they want but will need to complete the entire task on that device to track progress. paul2009 1 Find my contributions useful? thatbranding Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 @WillMyers has managed this in his courses (certainly the one I bought) - whether or not this is intellectual property he'd be willing to share (or create a plugin for!) is up to him
