Adding the Klarna "Pay later" option - European Squarespace shop owners

Hi Squarespace,

As a small business owner business owner and seller of "luxury" items, I'm experiencing that upwards of 5/10 of my customers are asking for "Pay later" options.

This topic has been lingering since 2019. For us, who live in Europe and mostly cannot accept Afterpay, because of Stripe restrictions. The only option currently is Klarna, which we can accept through Stripe.

Please, squarespace and any other with interest in this topic - upvote this threat to get the attention from Squarespace developers.

This is one of those items, which I do not believe has any significant development effort (as it is managed by Stripe) - yet it would make a huge difference. I think I'm not alone when I say that I do not want to be creating workarounds to enable this, e.g. by creating a separate Shopify shop to accept Klarna. This option is as "extensive" as simply changing ecommerce platform.

Please escalate this issue and bring it up your development pipeline. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Squarespace has partnered with Afterpay (known as Clearpay in the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain) for "Pay Later" transactions. Squarespace does not support their competitor, Klarna.

If you are selling physical products in the United States, Canada (in any province except Quebec, where Afterpay isn't supported), New Zealand, Australia or the United Kingdom, you can use Afterpay/Clearpay.

If you need Klarna specifically, you will need to use a different commerce platform like Shopify.

This thread doesn't have an upvote feature and Squarespace employees don't routinely monitor this forum for feature requests (see the guidelines - item 6).

If you’d like to make a feature request, you can do so by contacting Squarespace Customer Care using a support ticket.

Just sent this to their support:

Hi support,

Klarna is a dominant payment solution in Sweden, and elsewhere in Europe. Afterpay is not known here.

So when can we expect a solution to this problem, because it's really a problem for us to be able to offer Squarespace as a webshop solution?

This year alone I have turned down at least 10 requests because it is not possible to offer a Klarna integration.

Is a Klarna integration on your roadmap at all?

Hi, i have an e-commerce in Spain.

- Squarespace already works with Clearpay in the UK.

- Clearpay already works in Spain, but Squarespace has not yet integrated it.

I just spoke with ''SquareSpace Customer Care'' and have talked about the need to integrate it. Clearpay is like Klarna, but Clearpay already works with Squarespace so they will probably integrate it as soon as possible.

I hope they do it soon and that it helps someone.

Fernando.
