Hi there. I'm getting this error as stated in title above when I try to upload my PDF file (Please see attached image). I tried uploading different web sizes for the PDF but I still get the same error. Any solutions suggestion are much appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

File uploads must be 20 MB or less. If your PDF is less, I recommend you get in touch with Squarespace Customer Care as they can help you to troubleshoot this. You can reach out to them here.

Just heard from Squarespace tech and, while the issue is not resolved, there is a workaround. If you use a Button Block, you can upload a PDF without getting the "status code 500" error.

  • I created a non-linked, throw away page
  • Added a Button Block
  • Uploaded my PDFs
  • Closed the throw away page and went to my live work page
  • Linked the uploaded PDFs to the necessary text

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Hi Paul. All my PDFs are in web size which are less than 1 mb. I had tried uploading and it's all working perfectly now. Many thanks! Cheers.

Hi Kevin. I had just tried uploading earlier and now it's working fine. But your workaround is a brilliant idea!  I'll keep in mind whenever this error pops up again. Many thanks.

Cheers.

Update from Support tech:

Quote

I can confirm this is related to an issue with videos added to Gallery Pages, on our end. We’ve reported this to our Engineering team, and they’re currently prioritizing the issue.

Previous post:

I'm working with Support now on a similar issue when trying to upload a simple YouTube video via URL. Initially, the Support tech had me clear cache in both browsers and try to add the video again, but I repeatedly get the same error codes. I've tried for almost two hours now to add a simple video to my site and I think these errors are on Squarespace servers and not on my end.
