Adding Shipping costs by post code In Australia

Recommended Posts

Site URL: https://glasshausfloristonline.com

My client is a florist in Australia.

Shipping appears to be a real sticking point in Squarespace.

I am wanting to add shipping charges by postcode/suburb? I have a spreadsheet for all postcodes and charges. How and Can I do this in the Squarespace site? Or Can I have some custom code added to the site to integrate this to the Squarespace website?  I would love to resolve this as it appears to be a barrier for many clients?

Thanks in advance,

Jo

Hi Jo

Yes delivery, pickup and shipping are far from ideal on Squarespace, especially outside the US. How does your client want it to work? Are they delivering themselves or using a delivery/shipping company?

Thanks for your response, yes it's a big problem, especially when they are wanting to move platforms because of this sticking point.

I am keen to come up with a solution, even if it means some custom code for this could be created and integrated in the shipping section?

They deliver using multiple different shipping companies and also their own driver for inner city which is why postcode /location is the best option for calculation I guess.

Thanks in advance.

It won’t be possible to integrate anything into the Shipping section of the checkout. Squarespace prevent this.

If they are using shipping and local delivery, moving platforms is probably the right move. Shopify has some excellent solutions for this and it will be a while before Sqsp catch up.

Hi @paul2009, do you recommend ShipStation or another API to fill the gap between WOO commerce / Shopify and SquareSpace?

Third party products cannot fill this gap. Squarespace’s APIs are limited because they only allow a third party service to manage orders AFTER they have been placed. This means that ShipStation, Shippo (and every other potential service) can only help to select the best shipping option AFTER the customer has paid. By then it’s too late. In many situations, you’ll want to query the carriers for prices and then allow the customer to select from these. This simply isn’t possible.

This limitation cannot be overcome until Squarespace engineers change it.
