Same product (with different variant pricing) but same total quantity...

Hello,

I'm setting a store where the product are classes.

Each class with only be able to take 12 participants, but there are two pricing...
1 for full fee paying students
1 for students with concession

I can create the variant, but I cannot associate them to the same product quantity...

Is there a way I can get around this and only set a quantity amount that is SHARED across two variants...?

If you are using Squarespace Commerce to create products/services for the classes, the variants will be considered different products. You cannot link them within Squarespace. You can purchase an extension called Trunk Inventory to link them, but it’s very expensive.

Another option is to use Squarespace Scheduling to book classes instead.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the reply!  Scheduling is not quite the solution.

For example, we are running a floral arrangement class. There are a total number of 12 seats available for sale. Students may select "full fee" or "concession". If I create the two variant, I'll have to allocate a availability... which may overlap each other and we do not want to over-sell...

I suppose my most straightforward solution is to tell students who are entitled to "consession" to use a discount code on check out. but I'm just hoping to make it easier when they are viewing the products and see the pricing straight away...

Hi Ken,

I was wondering if you found a solution to the above issue. I'm creating a site for a small Yoga studio and have found I need the same thing, both a full and concession class price to be available for clients paying in advance through scheduling.

Also wondering about this!  I have a client who takes a set number of registrations for events and then offers various levels of wine tasting to the exeprience without changing the total number of seats available for the event.

@paul2009 do you know if there is an update since this thread is a few years old? Maybe new features somewhere that could accomplish this? Thank you for any advice.

My client sells her events based on equity-tiered pricing so it needs to be the same amount for all 3 prices that she has.

@anortherndesign The situation is unchanged after 3.5 years! 😢.

As a Circle member, do please vote for my feature request to Share product inventory between all variants if you need this! 🙂

Thank you for the speedy reply Paul! What a bummer. I voted it, so glad you created that feature request. Hoping others will also vote for it too! Do you know if there is a workaround on stripe or another platform that we could embed?

Apart from Trunk (which I find too expensive to fill this feature gap) there's nothing else I can think of. Perhaps others can chime in.

I may have found a workaround using the add-on feature in 7.1 with some CSS to hide a few things. It isn't perfect but it's hopefully going to work. Major thanks to Beatriz Caraballo for troubleshooting with me! If the client approves this direction I will add my example/link here 🙂 As an alternative, I also found this platform called 'check out page . co'. You do have an annual fee on top of that, but that is it. It connects to stripe, and is a stripe-verified partner. You can embed it into your sqsp site.
