Hi everyone, I've been working on my website for over a month now and I just realised that my sitemap is not updated at all.

The last update has been on may 2021-05-11 and since then there have been many changes (and at least 15 new pages).

Any help?

Hi there. Sitemaps currently aren't working as expected. You can ask Support to regen. More info on sitemap issues

@nicc707 Scan your sitemap to look for the text. Update impacted images by changing the image block from inline to something else, remove the demo text, then back to inline. Let me know if you need more info.

@ChristineDarby Thank you. That's the route I guess I'll have to go...was hoping there was a quicker way! 🙂

My site has TONS of images affected by this 🙄

I really appreciate your quick response though! If anyone comes up with a better way, I'll be updating images for the next couple weeks. LOL

Thank you, @ChristineDarby. This helped me resolve my own sitemap image demo content nightmare this week! Will be flagging this with Squarespace Support, as demo content from unused image block layouts should NEVER be used in generating final sitemaps!

You are welcome. Yes I also reported to Support in June 2021 when it first occurred.

This has been happening for months. It is demo content. Change the image block from inline to another image style, remove the demo text, then go back to inline. Squarespace's own sitemap is full of the same. More info here

Thanks Christine! I know it's been a while since you posted this so hopefully you can answer my following question; where exactly do I remove the demo text from?

Hello. Edit the image block and switch it from inline (under design) to another type and you will see the demo content. Good luck!

So we have 100s of pages, with 1000 images, and now that I'm looking at our sitemap, it looks like default caption is everywhere - and I can't seem to set it

<image:caption>Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.</image:caption>

Also, I'm expecting that I can make changes to the site, save, and see updates to my sitemap almost immdiately

Question: How long should I need to wait for a sitemap update?

I've made changes to some sample pages for the caption and I haven't seen anything updated.

We have a lot of content - it's legit - and it seems like it is not being indexed so I'm rechecking everything.

Hi @Peyton_instant sitemaps should update within 24 hours: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206543547-Your-site-map if not, then ask Squarespace to regenerate it for you.

And yes the tags are annoying, but they were deprecated by Google a couple of years ago: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2022/05/spring-cleaning-sitemap-extensions

We have more info on both of these issues in our post on Squarespace sitemaps.
