How do I reduce the amount of items displaying on my front page?

How do I reduce the amount of items thats displayed on my front page? I have over 200 listings and it stretches very far down my page. 

I've gone into template 'settings' to see if I can control the amount of items displayed but no luck. Can anyone help??
