Flickering effect while pages are loading (7.1)

Hi,

I was noticing on the 7.1 websites we have running a brief flicker effect when webpages are loading.

This is a 7.1 website without any application tags: https://www.interartists.nl/.
The flickering becomes more clear/disturbing in this bilingual website: https://www.bjornbox.com/ in which you briefly see all menu items while a new webpage is loading. Just click around from page to page and you'll notice.

Does anyone have a clue what's happening here? Is it a 7.1 thing? I've been taking out all custom code and I still see it happening.

"Flickering" can happen if changes are made to the page after it loads.

In the case of the bilingual site, this is because the standard Squarespace page loads and shows all the nav items for all languages. Later when your code runs it removes the nav items that you don't want to show in this language.

To prevent these changes being visible you can hide all the nav items at load time (using some CSS) and then modify the code to only make them visible once the surplus items have been removed.
