Create Page Layout With Different Size Containers In The Same Row

I'm working on a new site, and want to create a homepage similar to this in terms of layout (https://gopro.com/en/us/). 

To be clear, I want rows that have different size sections.

I currently have image blocks on the homepage, but you'll notice that they are exactly the same size. I know how to change the image blocks by dragging them, etc., but not how to get the desired outcome (ie - the image below).

In general it goes something like this.

Get two images side by side one below. Notice the line block. I used that to try to keep the image below floating up and messing things up.

Then with the image on the right. Click it twice and use the resize handle to make it about half height.

Now drag the image from below the line up under the half height image.

Remove the line and you are closer to the arrangement you want.

You may need to fiddle with the resize handle on the half height images to get them even.

The next step would be to see if CSS can get rid of the padding around the images.

I'll need to dial in the bottom alignment a bit, so any tips would be appreciated.

I've not found a satisfactory solution for the resize issue and alignment. It sure would be nice if SS had some kind of snap to feature.
