Can you fix the height of index page media containers in Lange with CSS?

I am updating my professional work portfolio but can't seem to fix the height of my index page media containers. I'm using the Lange template, and would like the image container heights to stay the same across different web browsers, tablet and mobile as well. Reason being, I've displayed some important information about the clients or awards each section is linked to, but they are getting cut completely off for different browsers and the mobile layout. 

Toggling the crop button simply leaves a ton of negative space on my site, but the image container remains the same. Would appreciate any help on this!
