announcement popup

I am trying to add a pop up when you visit my site for an informational announcement.  I do not want a button such as the promotional pop up.  Advice on how to do this?  Thanks!

Have you tried an Announcement Bar?

I would prefer to have a pop up that shows first thing (thus cannot be missed) but will try the announcement bar if I can't find an answer.  Thanks for your answer 🙂

If you do not need visitors to provide an email address or select from different options, the announcement bar is often better. This is because it is less intrusive and yet will remain in place on all pages until a visitor dismisses it.

You can add a simple Promotional Popup but these can be annoying to many users because they can appear whilst they are trying to complete a task. The best option will depend upon the type of announcement that you want to make.
