How to show BOTH past and upcoming events in squarespace 7.1 calendar blocks

Hi all, 

Please help me work out how to show both the upcoming and past events in a calendar grid. 

Online forums suggest just tick the box that asks if i want past events to show, but it doesn't seem to be in an option for this summary block in squarespace 7.1. I really don't want all the events to disappear and I'd prefer not to create a separate summary block of past events, as it can look quite clunky. Any advice would be much appreciated.
