Hi, the site doesn't meet accessibility requirements, here is a list of the issues that we can't find a solution for:

  • it is missing a “Skip to main content” link on every page
  • there is an empty link on each page that we can't remove: <a href="#" class="body-overlay"></a>
  • the hamburger menu is missing the focus style when accessed using a keyboard
  • full menu: we can't access subnav menu items using the keyboard (the nav menu does not expand when the keyboard focus is on a subnav item)
  • The site should be using an <h1> tag instead of the <p> tag for page titles to support proper semantic markup.

Any help or advice that you can provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @rTraction,

Tyler here from SquareADA.com. Sounds like you're using a Bedford-family template! We have a couple blog posts with free code snippets that might help:

We also have a free accessibility audit tool, and if you're looking for a more robust solution, we're available for hire via our done-for-you accessibility service. Feel free to send us an email or DM me with any other accessibility questions.

Hope this helps!

The above post may be outdated. I’m no longer active in the Squarespace ecosystem, so I won’t see your direct messages. For better resources about web accessibility, I’ve documented some of my thoughts on my forum profile.
