Collage - Small image does not overlap with text

Hello squarespace community, 

I am running into a technical issue - I'd love to use a collage design for a section of my website. 

However - when I turn the collage mode on - my picture stays really small and does not overlap with the text. 

Does anyone have an idea how to avoid this? 

ps: it currently looks like the pink section and I would like it to look like the gray one.
